Drawing Connections is a project bringing together residents at HMP Springhill with students from the local Banbury and Bicester College Art Faculty in a series of artist-led workshops held at HMP Springhill.

As a result of its pilot year, an art room was established on the prison site. For its second edition, the Drawing Connections project took a new group of students and artists in to HMP Springhill. Over eight weeks, from October to December, both prisoners, staff and students practiced photography, willow weaving, creative writing, lino cutting, drawing, clay modelling and collage.

A project facilitator said,

“They all are discovering different ways of expressing and communicating through art while learning essential values to grow as individuals.”
