Submit an exhibition proposal
The Prisons Mission of the Churches Together in Westminster (CTiW) last year organised a touring exhibition of artworks by prisoners in St James’s Piccadilly, the Bloomsbury Central Baptist Church and St Martin-in-the-Fields; all churches with active congregations and high visitor footfall.
The exhibition of paintings and sculpture – First Impressions: Portraits from Prison – was curated by the Koestler Trust, funded by the Mission and ran from March to June 2018. Its purpose was to engage with parishioners and visitors alike on the subject of penal policy and the situation in UK prisons, and provide a focal point for discussion with decision-makers in the field.
This year the Mission would like to invite all National Criminal Justice Arts Alliance and Clinks members to submit a proposal to fulfill a similar brief.
The ‘exhibition’ needs to have a static element as it will likely be in place for two to four weeks, but could also include performance. The Mission believes this will be an excellent opportunity to showcase an organisation’s work, alongside its primary objective to raise awareness of the prison system as a whole.
