Funding to tackle socio-economic diversity
The Weston Jerwood Creative Bursaries 2020-2022 programme provides an opportunity for talent from socio-economic backgrounds that are currently under-represented across the arts to develop and thrive.
A briefing paper gives evidence of the wider issues, challenges and barriers facing those from lower socio-economic backgrounds and provides insights into the rationale behind some of the design of the programme.
The programme works in partnership with 50 Host organisations to create 50 paid, year-long creative Fellowships to expand their capacity for artistic production and take part in an 18-month Organisational Change programme.
Host organisations are supported by the programme to:
- Create a year-long Fellowship for an early-career creative professional from a lower socio-economic background
- Take part in a dedicated programme of organisational change to support a meaningful shift towards more inclusive organisational cultures, audience development and artistic programming
- Engage with a powerful UK-wide, cross-art form network of Hosts, Fellows and alumni.
