Call-out to deliver NCJAA professional development bursary scheme
The National Criminal Justice Arts Alliance (NCJAA) is looking for an arts in criminal justice organisation arts to support us in the delivery of our 2020-21 professional development bursary scheme.
About the NCJAA professional development bursary scheme
Research conducted in 2017 into the NCJAA network’s training needs showed that cost is the biggest barrier for our network to access training. The research indicated that small amounts of money would make a big difference to the professional development of those working in arts and criminal justice, and that flexible, bespoke grants could support the range of emerging and experienced practitioners in the field.
This year, in light of the impact of Covid-19 on the individuals working the field of arts and criminal justice, including freelance artists, we intend to run an adapted bursary scheme. This year’s bursary scheme will prioritise applications for funding for professional development activities that will help sustain or adapt that applicant’s work in the field of arts and criminal justice, to allow them to continue working in the sector into the future.
The call-out
We are looking for an organisation to deliver the scheme, including the following activities:
- Reviewing, updating and finalising all scheme documentation, including applicant guidance, application forms, score sheet and equality and diversity monitoring forms
- Advertising the scheme and ensuring that it is promoted across the NCJAA network, in particular so that it researches prospective candidates who would most benefit from the scheme
- Receiving and processing applications
- Convening a decision making panel and scoring applications
- Notifying successful applicants
- Producing a short blog for the NCJAA website highlighting the outcome of the scheme and its benefits to applicants and the wider sector.
What we’re looking for
The ideal applicant will be an organisation with:
- Experience working in the arts in criminal justice system sector
- An understanding of the professional development and training opportunities available for arts in criminal justice practitioners
- Experience administering bursary/small grant schemes
Timeline
We intend to run the scheme this year to the following timetable:
Applications for bursary scheme open: ASAP – January/February 2021
Applications for bursary scheme close: 5 March 2021
Bursary recipients publicly announced: 19 March 2021
There will be a total of 16 x £500 bursaries available (i.e. a total pot of £8,000).
The successful applicant will receive a management fee for administering the scheme equivalent to 15% of the total grant pot.
