Andy Watson

Andy Watson graduated from the Lecoq School of Mime and Physical Theatre in Paris in 1996 and joined Geese Theatre Company as an Actor/Groupworker in 1997. He became Artistic Director / CEO in 2003 and heads a team of ten staff with responsibility for all the company’s artistic output as well as fundraising, business planning, partnership and business development, and financial stability. He also still regularly delivers work as a performer and groupwork practitioner for the company, in both prison and community settings as well as creating and delivering training events for staff working in the sector.
In addition to working in the UK, Andy has delivered projects internationally, including in Australia, South Africa, Azerbaijan, Sweden and Brazil and most recently led on a cultural exchange project with a prison theatre company based in Berlin. Andy has published several book chapters, articles, and research papers and in 2018 was awarded MBE for services to arts in criminal justice settings. He was a long-term, founding member of the NCJAA Steering Group, stepping down from his position as Vice Chair in January 2020.
