There is A Field is a London story of faith\, death and family strife reshaped by local crises and global events. \n\nSynergy Theatre Project’s new production is written by former prisoner Martin Askew\, directed by Esther Baker and features Archie Backhouse\, Sarah Finigan\, Roseanna Frascona\, Sam Frenchum\, Fabrizio Santino. \nSynergy began working with Martin after his release from prison\, commissioning There is a Field as his debut\, full-length play. Martin grew up in the East End and started writing after witnessing the murder of a close friend. DESCRIPTION:1st March – 19th May\nTurner Contemporary\, Margate\nFree \nThe Koestler Trust is staging its first exhibition in the South East at Margate’s Turner Contemporary. \nWe Made This features over 70 artworks made by people in prisons\, young offender institutions\, secure hospitals and on probation in Kent and Sussex will be on display. In these the actors and director will spend time devising pieces with participants as a response to the piece\, with the opportunity to perform alongside Manchester poet Argh Kid on a fundraiser night on Sunday 10th March. In particular\, the piece would appeal to people who have been in contact with the criminal justice system. \nIf you are interested please contact simon@53two.com \n\n“Follow Lee in this powerful and poignant piece as he finds his way through a ten year stretch inside after one terrible mistake. Experience the highs\, and definitely the lows\, and witness just how it affects him and those nearest to him.” \nMAP Productions is bringing The Stretch back to the stage following a successful run at JB Shorts Festival. This extended one hour version has been written with support from the pastoral team at HMP Forest Bank and is based on true experiences. \nFrom writer Joe Ainsworth and director Simon Naylor\, The Stretch hopes to raise the bar for fringe theatre in Manchester and draw in a new and more diverse audience. Co-writers on the debut album Not Known at this Address include prisoners\, prison staff\, researchers and social workers. DESCRIPTION:27th – 29th March 2019\nMoseley\, Birmingham\n£420 \nGeese Theatre Company has worked in arts-based practice in criminal justice\, social welfare and forensic mental health for 30 years. Alongside its work within these settings\, the company regularly facilitates training courses on its use of theatre and drama techniques in group-work settings. \nThis specialist three-day course ‘The Other Side of the Wall’ is an opportunity to learn more about the methodology behind Geese’s work\, for staff working in community or secure settings with patients or service users who have mental health issues or personality disorders. \nThe course is recommended for: \n\nTherapists (e.g. OTs\, SaLTs or arts-based therapists)\nPsychologists\nProgramme facilitators\nActivities co-ordinators\n\nHowever\, it is open to anyone who has experience of\, or who is interested in\, working in this field. \nParticipants will be invited to experience and practice a variety of drama-based methods for use in group-work. This will be underpinned by a clear\, theoretical framework and guidance from experienced Geese practitioners.
