DESCRIPTION:Synergy Theatre Project is offering two free ten week courses for ex-prisoners between September and November. Introduction to Film Production (4th September – 6th November) will look at different roles and departments working behind the scenes within the film industry\, and Introduction to Scriptwriting (18th September – 20th November) will support participants to bring their stories to life. DESCRIPTION:Staging Rehabilitation  \n1st November 2017 10am – 4:30pm \nThe Lowry Pier 8\, The Quays\, Salford M50 3AZ \nTickets £55 – £85 \nThis masterclass is for both theatre artists and criminal justice professionals interested in the specialised field of arts in the criminal justice system. The day will be an introduction to the work of two of the leading organisations in this field. You will learn about their different working practices\, understand the principles and theory underpinning their work\, and explore best practice in this field. The day will be participatory\, and involve drama and theatre exercises\, groupwork\, discussion and a plenary session at the end. \nThe day will be led by Anna Herrmann\, Head of Education at Clean Break and Andy Watson\, Artistic Director of Geese. \nAndy became a practitioner with Geese in 1997 and has been the company’s Artistic Director for the last 12 years. Andy specialises in developing and delivering a range of theatre based interventions in prisons\, secure hospitals and with ‘at-risk’ groups in the community. Anna has been Head of Education at Clean Break since 2002\, and leads the company’s award winning education programme for women with experience of the criminal justice system. \nAnna and Andy are long-standing members of the National Criminal Justice Arts Alliance steering group and are regular visiting lecturers on a range of Applied Theatre under-graduate and post-graduate courses. \nWith a combined track record of 66 years\, this training day will give participants a unique insight into the successful approaches of Clean Break and Geese in both prison and community settings. \n3 bursary places are available on this course to anyone who has had direct personal (not professional) experience of the criminal justice system. SUMMARY:Free Effective Facilitation Workshop with Good Vibrations
DESCRIPTION:Youth Music is funding Good Vibrations to run a series of immersive\, day-long effective facilitation workshops for music and arts practitioners working with people in challenging circumstances. Their next one is on the 29th November 2017\, and it’s a free workshop at York University. \nIn the training\, practitioners will: \n\nImmerse themselves in the experience of being a participant in a condensed\, typical Good Vibrations course.\nObserve an experienced facilitator modelling a range of facilitation techniques and experience the impact on group dynamics and musical outcomes.\nHave fun and get the opportunity to get to know other practitioners working in challenging circumstances.\nPut on a performance and get to keep a CD of the music created on the day.\nLearn a new skill – to play the Javanese gamelan orchestra!\nBe given new Royal College of Music research on Good Vibrations’ facilitative approach – the theory behind the experience.\nCome out feeling inspired about the potential of incorporating new facilitation techniques into their practice.\n\nAnyone wishing to register their interest should email malcolm@good-vibrations.org.uk ASAP\, as places are limited to 20.
