SUMMARY:Synergy Theatre Project presents: Blackout
DESCRIPTION:13 – 17 March 2018\n Oval House Theatre\, London\n Book now \n15 year-old James wakes up in a prison cell and can’t remember how he got there… \nBlackout is a hard-hitting play about getting bullied\, fighting back\, trying to make a name for yourself\, turning vicious\, doing something stupid\, losing everything\, then finding your way again. \n\nSynergy Theatre Project present Blackout\, a play by Davey Anderson and directed by Esther Baker. \nThe production will embark on a tour of London schools\, followed by a week of public performances at Oval House Theatre from Tuesday 13th – Saturday 17th March. \nIt is performed by a company of professional and former prisoner actors and every 30 minute performance will be followed by a Q&A with the creative team. These performances will be a rare opportunity to enjoy the groundbreaking work Synergy Theatre Project produce. \nEstablished in 2000\, Synergy Theatre Project works towards rehabilitation and resettlement with prisoners\, ex-prisoners and young people at risk of offending\, through theatre and related activities whilst placing the wider issues surrounding criminal justice in the public arena. \n“It’s as technically adroit and inflamed a piece as I’ve seen all year\, funny and shockingly frank… a 75-minute slice of first class theatre.”- What’s On Stage on Girls Like That \nFind out more about Blackout here

SUMMARY:David Goldblatt: 'Ex-offenders at the Scene of the Crime'
DESCRIPTION:On 22nd May\, 6 – 7.30pm\, join photographer David Goldblatt at the Town Hall in West Bromwich\, where he will talk about his project – which was run in partnership with Multistory – ‘Ex-offenders at the scene of the crime.’ \nDavid Goldblatt was born in South Africa and has been a photographer since 1963. Over the years he has done a number of photographic essays examining aspects of South African society. His present concern is with crime which\, in numerous ways\, has become an overwhelmingly important part of life. David is not a social worker or a journalist; he seeks to make photographs and tell life stories that might deepen our understanding of people and circumstances – to see people who have committed crimes not as the sudden forces and threats that many have experienced\, nor as names in news reports\, but as individuals. \nClick here to read more and to book your free place \nPhoto (c) David Goldblatt
