SUMMARY:Prisoners on Prisoners
DESCRIPTION:8th February – 6th September\nRipon\nFrom £5.50 \nPrisoners on Prisoners is an installation at Ripon Prison and Police Museum that shares the experiences of current and historic female prisoners through audio\, textile and photography. \nArtist Faye Claridge has been connecting prison archives with inmates at HMP Askham Grange\, to explore similarities and differences in their lives and prison experiences. Workshops using the museum’s Edwardian and Victorian criminal record books to give prisoners a way to share their perspectives and for museum visitors to consider the individual lived experience of justice systems. \nThe results have been compiled as a film and large-scale fabric print installation for cell 13 of the Victorian Ripon Prison and Police Museum. \nThe participants at Askham Grange really connected with the museum archives. Their thoughts on how prison has changed their lives and what changes might have helped prisoners 100-or-so years ago are really moving.\nFaye Claridge \nBook here\n\nImage courtesy of Faye Claridge
