SUMMARY:I am the Coyote
DESCRIPTION:28th August 2019 – 12th January 2020\nUniversity of Hull\nFree \nNovus\, the University of Hull and HMP Humber have collaborated on an exhibition titled I am the Coyote\, which aims to show the power of art as a rehabilitation tool in prisons over 45 years. \nI am the Coyote includes art produced from the Special Unit 74 and HMP Humber’s GRAFT Studio\, the largest art college in the UK prison sector and a unique space where prisoners are able to focus on creativity and its benefits. Colour photographs document the group thinking and creative process as well as the experiential teaching strategies. \nThe exhibition has been commissioned as part of the University’s Culture Campus initiative and is on show at the Brynmor Jones Library. \nOur vision is to wholeheartedly embrace provocative topics and encourage discussion and debate across our campus. SUMMARY:Theatre of the Oppressed training
DESCRIPTION:Three days in early November 2019 (dates tbc)\nManchester\n£150 (free places may be available for those unable to pay) \nOdd Arts is offering an opportunity to train with Geo Britto\, one of the first generations of students who trained with Augusto Boal in Brazil. Geo has continued to deliver this work in Centre of the Theatre of the Oppressed (CTO) Rio. \nThe three-day workshop will cover the following four categories: \n\nThe games and exercises of the Theatre of the Oppressed\nImage theatre\nAesthetics and dramaturgy of the oppressed\nForum theatre.\n\nPractical learning will see participants mount scenes that come into direct contact with the practice of the methodology. \nGeo and Augusto Boal trained the founders of Odd Arts in 2002\, and the theatre company is very proud to host Geo and share this opportunity. \nIf you are interested in attending\, please email info@oddarts.co.uk  \n\nImage courtesy of Odd Arts
